Volunteer Opportunities - Office Support

In addition to serving as a mentor ih our College Behind Bars program, Partakers offers volunteer opportunities in our office. The following opportunities are currently available.

Information Technology Volunteer

Responsibilities:

Maintain information technology in the office, including:

  • Performing regular maintenance on personal computers & server
  • Maintaining wireless internet connection
  • Backing up server regularly
  • Troubleshooting email problems
  • Document all IT work performed

Skills and qualifications: 

  • full knowledge and experience in maintaining and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows and Microsoft networks
  • familiarity with the working environment of a small non-profit
  • strong organizational skills and follow-through
  • attention to detail

 Supervision and Time Requirement Details:

  • Volunteer will report to the Assistant Director
  • Must be able to complete tasks according to mutually agreed-upon deadlines

Administrative Assistant Volunteer

Responsibilities:

  • general office support, including:
    • photocopying
    • filing
    • assisting with mailings
    • data entry
  • assist with managing the College Behind Bars program, including:
    • maining and tracking applications
    • mailing and tracking academic progress reports
    • interfacing with colleges for correspondence courses
    • ordering books and enrolling students in courses
  • assist Executive Director, Assistant Director and Community Liaison as needed

 Skills and qualifications:

  • full knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Office Suite products (especially Word and Excel)
  • excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
  • strong organizational and follow-through
  • attention to detail
  • ability to triage and handle multiple tasks
  • flexible team-player who can work independently and be willing to learn new things and take the initiative to start new projects when necessary

Supervision and Time Requirement Details:

  • Volunteer will report to the Assistant Director
  • Must be willing to work a minimum of 7 hours a week; preferably 1 full day 2 half days

Web Design Volunteer

Partakers is seeking to redesign our website. Our goal is to create a simple yet functional site that appropriately reflects the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with staff to design a new website
  • Train staff to maintain and update website

Skills and qualifications:

  • full knowledge and experience in designing and creating websites
  • familiarity with the working environment of a small non-profit
  • strong organizational skills and follow-through
  • attention to detail

Supervision and Time Requirement Details:

  • Volunteer will report to the Executive Director
  • Must be able to complete tasks according to mutually agreed-upon deadlines

Database Volunteer

Responsibilities:

Partakers uses a custom MS Access database to track program information. We are seeking a volunteer database administrator to continue to develop the features in this database, including:

  • New data entry fields
  • Rework existing data entry screens & queries
  • Create customized reports

 Skills and qualifications:

  • full knowledge and experience in developing databases with MS Access
  • familiarity with the working environment of a small non-profit
  • strong organizational skills and follow-through
  • attention to detail

  • Volunteer will report to the Assistant Director
